Regular oral health check-ups, such as those offered at Metro Decatur Dental Group PC in Georgia, are crucial for early detection of dental issues like cavities, gum disease, and enamel decay. Our skilled dentists can identify these problems in their initial stages. Tooth-colored fillings, also called composite resin fillings, effectively address cavities by sealing affected areas of the teeth. These fillings can also repair cracked or worn teeth caused by nail-biting, misuse, or teeth grinding. Unlike traditional amalgams, tooth-colored fillings are made from a composite resin that blends seamlessly with natural teeth, preserving their appearance.

The procedure typically begins with the application of a local anesthetic to numb the area surrounding the tooth to be filled. Depending on the dentist’s preference, training, and equipment availability, decayed portions are removed using a drill, air abrasion tool, or laser. The dentist then assesses the area to ensure complete removal of decay before cleaning the cavity of bacteria and debris in preparation for the filling. In cases where decay is near the root, a protective liner made of materials like glass ionomer or composite resin may be applied first.

Brookhaven is a city in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta that is located in western DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, directly northeast of Atlanta. On July 31, 2012, Brookhaven was approved in a referendum to become DeKalb County’s 11th city. Incorporation officially took place on December 17, 2012,[6] on which date municipal operations commenced.[7][8] With a population of around 55,366 as of 2021,[9] it is the largest city in DeKalb County.[10] The new city stretches over 12 square miles (31 km2).[11]

Brookhaven’s first permanent European settler was John Evins, who started a plantation around 1810. Harris and Solomon Goodwin, who moved to Georgia from South Carolina, became owners of the land in the 1830s. The Goodwin home and the family graveyard have been preserved at the 3900 block of Peachtree Road, near Dresden Drive.[12] A train station known as Goodwin’s was constructed along the Atlanta and Richmond (later Atlanta and Charlotte) railway in 1873.[13]
